This section of information and links is for those who
are concerned about the present (mainly disturbing),
world issues in general and South East Asian issues in
particular. After the wars in the Middle East,
trouble in Chechnya and Afganistan. We are now
witnessing renewed conflicts in Afghanistan, Kashmir and
Palestine. Muslims seems to be the common factor almost
everywhere. Is there something inherently wrong with
Islam and it's teachings?
In an age where Money and Media mould public opinions,
oppressors are being made to appear as oppressed. Those
who are accused of perpetrating brutality on others, in
turn get the accusers convicted in the courts of law.
There is an urgent need to understand the oppressed and
the oppressors through a meaningful and unbiased
dialogue. Increasing racial and religious intolerance
and extremist nationalism needs to be urgently curbed.
Yes! we know that there will always be some nations and
their governments that will keep on causing trouble, but
we should then as a united world stand against those
nations or dictators. Talk about 'Justice for all', and
get branded as anti-National. The use of this defamation
against everybody who dares to criticize nationalist
governments and it's deviated policies reminds one of
Dr. Samuel Johnson's sayings: "Patriotism is the last
refuge of a scoundrel."
The most valuable lesson I have learned in life is
actually one that I read during my school days, years
ago: If you can be sure of one thing in life, be sure of
this - there is always another side to the story.
I am referring to the stories they show us on ABC, BBC
or CNN and I am not being paranoid.
